Go to the streets one day and take your time just to observe, everyone if not all are on chats, making and receiving calls be it on major roads with cars all over or on the walking pavements. Which isn't bad, but then, is it sensible that we give three quarters of our time to this ugly trend? Despite the warning and traffic laws that were recently implemented in Kenya for instance, it seems like the habit has worsened. In the near future, God forbid, the use of chats and driving may be the major cause of accident as opposed to how we've formally known it as drunk driving.
About a book I once read, where the author emphasised on the importance of You and I relationship other than I and It. The two kinds of relationship are different as the latter is the type who views his or her audience as an object rather than a person. A case in point in this..
There's a telephone conversation between a couple who happens to live a distantly from each other, as the conversation progressed, the talk becomes emotional as the wife tries to explain to the husband how she has lost her best friend in a terrible accident. She notices the husband takes longer to respond and on the other end she's directed to the sounds of a keyboard as if one is typing and it suddenly becomes clearer that indeed the husband is typing as she speaks to him. And that was it! The end of the conversation and what followed next was worse.
Far from the distractions of here and there, the mind is ours and we as humans are its boss to give it a directive and channel it appropriately. However, to begin this we need to calm it, Lead it as a slave, train it on how to think positively and then day by day learn how to maintain it in that manner.
Well, some especially the buddhist emphasise on meditation which has proven helpful to its practitioners and those who practice meditation yet they aren't buddhist.
A scientific research too has proven that meditation is helpful in the stress reduction and the concept has been applied in different hospitals to patients suffering from various illnesses. For more info. please visit: palousemindfulness.com
There are different varieties to train your mind.. Begin by being present at each moment that is by giving all undivided attention to every activity that you engage in. For example when eating, just eat. When walking, just walk. When reading, simply read, among others.
It starts that way. To be present at all times
