It's a journey that everyone starts unaware and nobody realizes until they are gone. With age we develop our perception towards life. Others struggles seem so tiresome but then it is the only way out while the rest develop their own belief and go by that.
About a friend I had known for sometime, there was something I admired in him despite his feeble body and the manner of walk that he always maintained but within my conscious I still felt that we should just have a day to talk and talk non stop with him. One cold evening, the weather looked unfair and I felt weak in my nerves he suddenly appeared and opened a discussion that went for about twenty minutes. He suddenly told me how he had been sickling and how he lost his job, how work mates, pals and relatives had written him off and rendered him worthless and the way he separated with the first wife who later died and he married again. He sadly told me how he hopes the wife thinks of him as he does, the wife who currently resides in Nairobi with their two kids. He then told me that he had been HIV + since 1999. Friends and relatives are considered the most important persons in our lives why then when we are dire in need of assistance that they abandon us? Why do we end up in the world of shame? I am happy because I was there to listen to the friend's story and that he bestowed trust on me to such extent and it is my hope that he will continue to live that life of worth. But as a matter of fact, we at times dwell on others' personal life experiences and judge without minding ours. In the olden days thieves were stoned to death and the paradoxical part of it is that, it is here in the crowd where pick pockets emerged. It sounds funny that as the act is condemned, others praise it. Let us look into these life that we live and bring out the best in it just as a philosopher once said, "Live a good life today so that when you grow old you'll have the chance to live it a second time" so that we may not find these days too short for all the friends we want to meet, for all the books we want to read, for all the places we want to go and for all the love we want to express.
What paradox do you find in life?
