Why The Smile?

An old man walks across the shanties in the neighbourhood, he looks at the boys as they play, others watching the football as others hide and seek. As he trails down the riverside he sees some women weave the baskets, some gossip. Others fetching water from the same river.
The old man who is impressed by the goings want to see more and more for himself. His curiosity channels his eye to a gentleman on treetop. Who slowly grasps a mango and eats.

The old man ponders about all these occurrences and wonder how he has run out of time, how his bones which were once strong have become so feeble and painful. He stops and faces up to look at the gentleman who at this time is smiling.

The old man asks, why the smile young man? Does it mean you are laughing at me because am no longer capable of climbing a tree, that I can't go to the river and fetch water like I used to do in my innocent days? If not, then why the smile?

The amazed gentleman responds in this way..

You are richer than any of us here, even though your time has elapsed
You have done it all, no more school fees to strain your head, no more dates to worry you
You know your partner like the palm of your hand, while am still struggling to spot even one
All the villagers bestow all the respects to you because your wisdom exceeds all of theirs
Even though I am on top of the tree, you have the ability to see further than I can ever imagine.
No offence grandpa, The smile is all you got left, for this is a fact that I find so hard to ignore.

We all got a reason to smile everyday, please make it unconditional.
